Jackadandy alerted us to an act of censorship against a prominent lesbian, ‘daddy Rhon’. Reading about this incident sent me back to the day when Y was removed from Rhon’s web site community. Freaky.
Here is my story:
While browsing the forum list, Y came upon a thread title which caught my attention Burning/Bloody Noses/God Hates Me . Y read what had been posted, and sent a message privately to xPrettyHate, who had started the thread. Then Y followed along as more posts were added. Y was surprised when Kyssme complained about the thread not beginning with a trigger warning. Well. Anything which has the title Burning/Bloody, etc. is sure to be upsetting to pretty much anyone. And what is this online obsession about ‘trigger warnings’? If one is too emotionally delicate to handle certain topics of discussion, one would do well to invest one’s time in good therapy or support groups instead of cruising the internet. At least, one could avoid sites which focus on gender, sex or sexuality. Anyway, when Kyssme first posted to the thread, her avatar was a video clip showing a hand fastening a set of industrial wrist restraints onto another set of hands. If you had never been in a prison or a mental hospital (where these things are employed regularly) you might think nothing of it. If you had been in such a facility, her video would remind you of these inevitably traumatic times. Oh, well. But, you can read what happened: if the link above becomes ‘broken’, don’t worry. Just email me, and Y will post the copy Y have of the thread.
Participating in this particular thread was quite taxing as well as painful, for me at least. So, since music is my medicine, Y created a song mix to help myself ‘get over it’. Y then posted the mix on my own blog and sent the link privately to each participant in the thread, figuring that some other participant(s) may appreciate it. You can imagine my surprise when Y soon got a private message from Peach who vigorously accused me of using up ‘their’ resources by sending out private messages about “THIS”. Y took it as a denigration of my work and my attempt to help others. This annoyed me greatly. So Y shot back a private response to Peach. The next time Y went to log onto the site, Y got a big white screen with a box in the middle of it informing me that Y had been banned from the site “Time: Forever, Reason: None.” Wow. Y must be so powerful!
Y guess Y, like Rhon, was found to be lacking in family-friendliness. But, Y am only guessing because Y didn’t get an email explanation and the only reason provided to me was: NONE.
If you are interested in political censorship (and you are something of an egg-head) you might appreciate my blog patriarchy which Y began when my work was removed from wikipedia.
The Songs: (Click arrow to listen. This mix is about an hour long. Stick with me thru the sad part, and we will kick some ass at the end. If you don’t have time now, right click on the ‘MP3′ , save file as, select a folder for it on your computer, hit ‘save’. )
The Playlist: click on the artists’ names for links to some info about themĀ Songs for Lesbians Archives – BFU2

By the way, Y really do qualify for that site, because NO ONE is more Butch
OR more Femme
than ME
A well-done news clip about Rhon who had one painting removed from a show (unlike me who had my whole being removed from her site and who got no news-flash about it):

I don’t know the entire story, but from what Ive read, I think it is silly for them to have banned you FOREVER without giving you a reason. I dont understand what is wrong with sending a private message as you have done?? And what did Peach mean about using up “their recources”.
I really hope that everything turns out for the better, you could possibly try to explain that she is mistaken or something.
I am listening to your music right now, and I like what I hear so far, haven’t heard any of these songs before.
(PS her painting is wonderful)

So glad for the comments, because Y LOVE to get comments. Also, because Y am just learning all about wordpress and while Y thought Y had posted a link to the playlist, Y didn’t!
Here it is: http://urlsbn2.blogspot.com/2006/10/fu2.html
and now it is also a link on STRICKEN.
When you go there to the song archives – it doesn’t sometimes look like it – every artist’s name is a link to info. If any don’t work for you, please let me know.
Michelle, the song you ask about is Y’a Des Zazous by Brigitte Fontaine.
Mimii, you are a musical adventurer. You would be surprised how many folks never want to hear a song they don’t already know. There is SO much fine music out there, and my goal is to introduce womyn to artists that they would never otherwise hear.
Don’t spread this around ( ha ha ) but you can get more (and podcast) at comehear.wordpress.com.
Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, I absolutely LOVE all genres of music. That song reminded me a little bit of Juli (A german band) and also of a song called Apres Moi by Regina Spektor (one of my favorites)
I am Mimii & Michelle (I dont know why it did that)
